For installations in plenum airflow spaces, Uni-fibercable supplies the Simplex Fiber Optic Cable, Single Mode, 9/125, Indoor, Plenum; this fiber optic cable complies with industry regulations to qualify as OFNP (Optical Fiber Non-conductive Plenum) for safe installation in airflow spaces, available in 2.0mm and 3.0mm diameters. Moreover, this plenum Simplex Fiber is recommended for applications where the propagation of smoke and flames is a vital concern; a flame-retardant jacket prevents this cable from spreading fire throughout a building in the event of an emergency.
 
For vertical, floor to floor networking applications, Uni-fibercable provides the Simplex Fiber Optic Cable, Single Mode, 9/125, Fiber, Indoor, Riser; this fiber optic cable is accommodating to industry specifications as OFNP (Optical Fiber Non-conductive Riser) for safe installation from floor to floor, available in both 2.0mm and 3.0mm diameter sizes.
 
Note that application sites have regulations enacted through the National Electric Code (NEC). OFNR cables are not made for installation in plenum areas, as OFNR cables lack the quality materials that plenum obtains. Only OFNP plenum cables are suitable in plenum areas.
 
Specification 
With a single tight-buffered fiber as the basic unit, high modulus aramid yarn as the strength member, and the jacket is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or low smoke zero halogen flame-retardant polyolefin (LSZH).
